The legends, with their dramas and demons, are the material the Pink Mountain Sagas draw on. A homecoming, an attempt and a temptation.
On repeated listenings, the musical structure becomes clearer, just like the sky opening when you are travelling high up in the mountains. The expressive music literally carries the attentive mind into the rugged, alpine Glarnerland where the vocalist grew up.
The voice is not in front, it is right in the middle, during gentle mists as well as in stormy moments.
Franz Hellmüller’s guitar is a rock in the mighty surf. Sounds dissipate like sea spray, only to be propelled onwards with an almost infinite wealth of ideas. His playing unites with the words to form a densely interwoven texture. Meanwhile, Rafael Jerjen’s bass carefully follows every movement of her lips before it too breaks out without leaving his own basic structure.
